Tidal Shifts

So many reminders lately of changing times- warmer weather, shorter hem lines and abbreviated attention spans while working are all the telltale signs of a new season begun.

This metaphor weaves it's way into so many facets of life.  Chapters of life that begin and eventually end but carry the story forward nonetheless.  Friendships wax and wane without asking our permission.  Faces come into focus swiftly and impact our lives so completely and then fade away before we can ask them why.

Seasons.

Not a cause for tears or fretting but a realization that this is life.  That this is adventure and love and fear all wrapped into your very own story.  We can embrace good times, clasp tighter the hands that hold us up and run away from moments that tear us to the core-but this ball will keep on rolling.

While there will be moments we can't bear to part with and others we would run away from-all of them will pass just the same: steadily.  We should not mourn this movement but embrace the idea of loving each moment that blesses our souls and know that when times are darkest, they still won't be forever.

They won't be forever.

There is tomorrow.  There is another soul who will make you laugh and assuage your fears and know your heart, though the pain of loss will always cause you pause.  When you look back on these moments, whether dark or bright you will know you have moved forward, learning from some and being bolstered by others.  When your heart is full clear to bursting you will hold onto that love and know that you have strength to keep on moving.

You will know that you are loved.

Don't fear the movement.  Don't fear the change, the loss or the joy for all of this will come again.

This life ebbs and flows and sure as the tide itself, my friends.
